The bar in progress existed in various states:

– preview: as a reaction to plans of the exhibition venue in Kyoto  Bornemann took the ground plan of a found bar and drew it on the floor of his studio on the floor of his studio in Bremen.

in Kyoto, the bar inside the exhibition space was used as a canteen for the artists and, through the use of light and music, became a bar in the evening. The aim was to provide an environment in which an intensive exchange between the Japanese and the German project participants could take place.

in the Künstlerhaus in Bremen, the bar of the exhibition venue in Kyoto was reconstructed as an exact replica. The height construction of the bar, which is strange for European habits, was adopted exactly:

Bar visitors sat very low, almost on the floor. The legs could be placed in a recessed floor groove. The bar was open for 3 weeks, 9 events were held. The program ranged from punk music, to electronic sound, to video performances and Super 8 films accompanied by DJs.
