The International Curating Studio/ Summer School Berlin programme is a platform envisioned to address questions of social, political and cultural relevance. We will discuss with the participants how an impact through new forms of meaning production as curatorial means could be achieved. Topics covered include changing ideas about art theories and current institutional practices, the status of the curator as an author, or team player, or critical instigator and educator. We will discuss the different perceptions about the socio-political role of the curator, the identity of the curatorial practice as an academic discipline open to renovation. The participants will discuss and develop projects, get a lot of input and will get to know the Berlin art scene, through studio visits and talks. The workshop, open to aspiring curators, is lead by Dorothee Richter, Head of Postgraduate Programme in Curating, Institute for Cultural Studies in Arts, Zurich University of the Arts, also director with Susanne Clausen of a PhD platform in curating and transdisciplinary and Sven Sappelt. It is intended to widen your knowledge through co-operations and studio visits.
